ZYRTEC Considerations

Considerations when taking any ZYRTEC product:

  • Women who are, or plan to become pregnant, or who are nursing should talk to their doctor before taking ZYRTEC products.
  • You should not take ZYRTEC products if you are sensitive to any ingredient in ZYRTEC or ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® (cetirizine HCl 5 mg/pseudoephedrine HCl 120 mg) Extended Release Tablets.
  • Do not take ZYRTEC products if you are sensitive to a drug called hydroxyzine.
  • You may not be able to take a full dose of ZYRTEC if you have liver or kidney problems, or if you are age 77 or older.
  • In clinical studies of patients with allergic rhinitis who also suffer from mild to moderate asthma, no adverse effects of cetirizine on lung function were observed.
