ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets dosage
ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets contain 5 mg of cetirizine HCl for immediate release and 120 mg of pseudoephedrine HCl for extended release in a bilayered tablet. ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets can be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole (not broken or chewed).
Be sure to take ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Adults and children 12 years or older: The recommended dose of ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets is one tablet twice a day.
Taking ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets with other medications and medical conditions:
- Due to the pseudoephedrine component, you should not take ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets if you have taken monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors in the past 14 days.
- Taking ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets with some blood pressure medications may reduce their effectiveness on blood pressure control.
- Disturbances in your heart beat can occur when pseudoephedrine is used with digitalis (a heart medication).
- Care should be taken when ZYRTEC-D 12 HOUR® Extended Release Tablets are taken with other sympathomimetic amines (for example, some inhaled medications for the treatment of asthma) because combined effects on the cardiovascular system may be harmful to the patient.
- Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had one of these conditions:
- high blood pressure
- heart disease
- glaucoma
- diabetes
- an overactive thyroid gland
- kidney disease
- difficulty urinating (due to an enlarged prostate gland)
